The DVD gives exceptional video-image quality and excellent hi-fi sound – it is the perfect data carrier for multimedia applications. A DVD is ten times faster than a CD and can record up to 8 different audio tracks and 32 subtitle tracks.

There are three common formats – DVD-5, DVD-9 and DVD-10- with capacities ranging from 4.7GB to 9.4 GB

DVDs and CDs are identical in appearance, but differ in key physical parameters. The DVD-disc always consists of two substrates (thickness of 0.6mm), which are bonded together. Both substrates can contain information with each substrate having one or two layers of information.
