Channel 4 Scrapbook

We found out today that Channel 4 has launched an online Channel 4 scrapbook – where you can ‘cut out and keep’ the best of its lifestyle articles. After a quick poke around, it seems fairly obvious they are trying to cash in on the success of Pinterest (an office addiction here at Creating Media!), as the format is very similar.

They have set up a few scrapbooks (similar to Pinterest’s boards) relating to various home, style and, most importantly, food programs that the channel broadcast. So think – a scrapbook relating to the various recipes used on Come Dine With Me, or craft ideas from Kirstie Allsopp. They also have some ‘featured scrapbooks’, some examples include Vegetarian Recipes and Taste of London.

It makes it much easier to navigate and find content on Channel 4’s site, but the real attraction is that once you’ve logged in you can set up your own scrapbooks keep content you like easily accessible, which will be super handy for keeping track of recipes once they disappear off the front page. It’s still quite a new system, so there may be the opportunity to share your Channel 4 scrapbook in future. Until then really it’s a glorified bookmarking system, but still useful and has a lot of potential.
