Each week we’ll be blogging about some of our favourite kickstarter projects out there.
Crowdfunding is a fantastic idea that’s really been taking off recently, where supporters pledge amounts of money to help innovative new ideas get off the ground. It’s great, because you’d pay that money to buy the product in the shops anyway, so it’s just paying in advance. There are always bigger and smaller amounts too – thank-you cards, bulk packs and exclusive gifts, to encourage people to give whatever they can. Often projects are highly design-led, such as innovative or creative new products (very Dragons Den) so we love it here in the Creating Media office.
Our favourite kickstarter this week is a lovely local project – glow-in-the-dark Christmas t-shirts! Jolly Clothing are a Monmouth-based business who create these fantastic t-shirts in non-glow-in-the-dark versions on their website. In fab designs inspired by those infamous Christmas jumpers, the print glows in the dark after being exposed to light. The kickstarter finishes on 3rd November, giving them a month to get those pre-orders out in time for the Christmas party season. They have already reached their funding goal, and over-funding will help Jolly Clothing launch new designs and colours to the range (known as ‘stretch goals’).
