Creating Media work - Long Barn Rose Range

We have been running social media campaigns for our client Long Barn for a while, but have recently had the pleasure of taking over their graphic design as well.

Long Barn are fantastic business near Winchester in Hampshire. At the heart of Long Barn is a well-established lavender farm, however the business has grown into so much more than that. From the lavender they create beautiful cosmetic products and delicious food, which they sell at their centre alongside quality plants and gifts. There is also a café on-site, and the Creating Media team have spent many taxing days of work soaking up the sun with a pot of loose leaf tea or freshly ground coffee out on the terrace while we have been visiting the client.

One of our first graphic design jobs for Long Barn was to create the packaging for their brand new cosmetic range, this time inspired by roses rather than lavender. The range was developed with input from Mottisfont Abbey, a National Trust site in Hampshire with a famous rose garden (who now stock the products). We had to design the packaging to suite nicely with the existing lavender products, but too have its own unique ‘feel’ as product range too. We managed this by using a deep pink as the lead colour for the range, rather than the traditional colours of Long Barn (deep grey or lavender purple).

Once the packaging was designed and produced, the next stage was for us to photograph the new products. We received a lovely smelling box in the post one day, and immediately got the studio set up ready for the standard shots against a white background needed for catalogues and more practical applications. Once these were all snapped we got to let our creative side out a little more, by taking the products outside into the summer sunshine and photographing the products in natural light among freshly cut roses.

We love working with Long Barn and are looking forward to a lot more exciting projects with them in the future!
